RADICAL TRANSFORMATION OF A BUILDING INTO A FEMALE’S BOARDING HOUSE AND ITS ENERGY UPGRADE IN THESSALONIKI

Radical conversion of an existing four-storey apartment building into small "studio" apartments for the accommodation needs of a female’s boarding house. Each space has its own power consumption, water supply, hot water supply. According to the study plans, the internal partitions were reconstructed as well as the floors, the water supply networks, the hot water networks, the electrical networks of strong and weak currents. Each apartment has its own bathroom and kitchen. Shared laundry rooms with washing machines, sinks and areas for refrigerators were built on each level. The building was thermally insulated in parts with the final aim of fully constructing a complex external thermal insulation system, it has efficient solar panels on the roof and, by using a forced circulation system, it heats a pair of triple energy boilers in the engine room that is also driven by a differential thermostat and a recirculation station. The domestic hot water systems are heated by the solar panels, by a gas boiler or with electric resistances that work auxiliary.
