IMPROVEMENT - RENOVATION OF THE RECREATION AREA OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF KALAMPAKA

The building block no. 187 intended for future configuration - renovation is located on the outskirts of the urban complex of Kalampaka, southeast. There are houses in the area, but also craft facilities of low nuisance. It is bordered on the south by a future ring road. The degraded character of the area is aggravated by the coexistence of these diverse uses. The renovation of the building block will upgrade the area. The public character –square– of sports will be a pole of attraction and a place of recreation.

The area under renovation consists of three building blocks. In the east, there is a parking area. In the middle, the sports facilities are located and in the west, the main regeneration area is developed, the park due to its large area. The configuration of a public space –square– of sports, the correlation of the modern region with the special quality characteristics of Meteora, the promotion of our existing natural heritage, the integration of new design proposals, the upgrading of the surrounding area along with the imposed coexistence of road network are the main goal and vital interventions of the under renovation B.B. 187 of the Municipality of Kalampaka. The needs of the families, the young people and the adults in the marginalized fabric of the region were a key point of concern for its formation. Basic principles, the creation of a park for walking or cycling and a gathering place (square with a refreshment area) in direct visual contact with a playground for preschool children. These principles, as well as the need for several entrances to such an extensive area, functioned as the primary criterion for the selection of the park paths. This creates a peripheral and a central axis of “traffic”, a central square marked by a “planted ramp”, part of which houses the refreshment area and sanitary facilities and a fenced playground in the heart of the park. The green zones automatically emerge and at the same time an outdoor chessboard, an adult sports area, a covered area for table tennis tables and a small elliptical square at the highest point of the artificial hill to the southeast are included. In this way the regeneration took place in a single open operation area.
